The journey that inspired us

Hello, my name is Candace and I am the founder of Core to Care. I am a graduate from the University of Delaware in Health Behavior Science. If you didn't catch that, I'm from Delaware and that's where my family still resides. However, I've been living in Maryland since 2020. Two states that are so close they share a border, but when I had my baby, financial barriers made them feel like they were across the country. And I realized something: sometimes having people who can’t show up in the way you need is actually worse than having no support at all.

That feeling — that gap between people being present and people being able to truly help — that’s what Core to Care was built to close. We understand the need for genuine, accessible support during this transformative time.

Why Core to Care is different

At Core to Care, we specialize in maternal occupational therapy, a field that, while still niche, is proven to be incredibly impactful, even life-saving, for new mothers. We go beyond traditional care by integrating holistic, evidence-based practices that focus on your complete recovery – mind, body, and environment.

Our professional support helps you regain strength, confidence, and wellbeing, ensuring you feel empowered to care for yourself and your family. We offer practical guidance and personalized support tailored to your unique journey in Cecil and Harford County, Maryland.

Our guiding principles

Our mission at Core to Care is built upon these core beliefs:

  • Postpartum care is essential, not optional. Every mother deserves professional support for recovery, physical health, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Holistic care empowers mothers. True recovery includes body, mind, and environment—supporting independence, confidence, and safety at home.
  • Education strengthens outcomes. Mothers who understand their bodies and recovery process are better equipped to care for themselves and their families.
  • Evidence-based practices matter. Our services are grounded in research and clinical expertise to ensure the most effective care.
  • Every mother’s journey is unique. We honor individuality and provide personalized support tailored to each mother’s needs.
  • Community and connection are healing. Peer support, guidance, and shared experiences improve confidence and reduce isolation.
